About Devoted Medical Primary Care

What is virtual primary care?

Virtual primary care is where you choose to get your primary care through convenient video visits — all from the comfort of your home. These visits can address many common health needs, including preventive care, sick visits, help managing long-term health conditions, and more.

What can I expect during a primary care visit?

During your Devoted Medical primary care visit, your provider will talk with you about your health and your medical history. Then, you’ll work together to create a care plan that’s personalized to your needs and goals.

What if I don't want to do virtual primary care?

That’s okay! As a Devoted Health member, you’ll always have access to our network of in-person primary care providers. If you try virtual primary care and decide it’s not for you, you can always switch to an in-person provider.

How do I schedule a virtual primary care visit?

You can schedule a visit online.

Do I need a phone or computer with a camera?

Yes. If you’re new to doing video visits, our team can offer support to make sure you’re set up and ready to go before your first appointment.

How much does virtual primary care cost?

Like all in-network primary care visits for Devoted Health plan members, Devoted Medical virtual primary care visits cost $0.

Can I get prescription refills with virtual primary care?

Yes. Just like any other primary care provider, Devoted Medical providers can write prescriptions based on your specific health needs and medical history.*

What types of providers will I be able to see?

Most of our Devoted Medical Primary Care providers are nurse practitioners who specialize in primary care. They’re supported by doctors, medical assistants, pharmacists, and clinical associates.

Will Devoted Medical providers be able to coordinate with specialists?

Yes. If your provider recommends that you see a specialist, our clinical associates will help you find someone in your area.

What if I need an in-person appointment after the virtual primary care visit?

Most primary care can happen virtually, through video visits, phone calls, and secure messaging. If you discuss a concern with your Devoted Medical provider and they recommend in-person care, our clinical associates can help you find someone in your area.

Will my information be private and secure?

Yes! Devoted Medical’s video visits and all other virtual care follows HIPAA and other privacy laws to keep your information safe. We protect your health information the same way as if you were meeting with your doctor in person.

What happens after a virtual primary care visit?

After your visit, your provider will share a visit summary that includes any next steps you talked about during the visit.

How is virtual primary care different from virtual urgent care or Care OnDemand?

Virtual primary care focuses on the whole picture of your health in the long term, including routine preventive care visits and help with managing long-term health issues. Virtual urgent care or Care OnDemand is a single visit to address an immediate, non-emergency health concern — like if you’re sick or injured.

*In some states, there are certain drugs that can only be prescribed in person — like ADHD medications and opioid pain medications. If needed, we can help connect you with an in-person provider so you have right prescriptions for you.
